Cohort 12

Green City Force to me means UNITY, coming together as one to teach this generation how to love, and inspire each other to grow and learn new things. I chose to become a Corps Member because I always wanted to experience what it would be like to become a farmer and to actually witness beautiful growth of fruits and vegetables. I never thought in a million years that I would be an urban farmer, especially in New York where there are nothing but bad food choices. Before GCF I decided that I wanted to attend Empire Beauty School in Manhattan, because I  thought it was something I wanted to major in. But one day, I realized that being a beautician was not something I wanted to do and I needed a more stable career. That is when I found Green City Force. I can honestly say that GCF has made me realize so much about myself and that I have grown a lot since the first day. I have learned that no matter what obstacles life puts in your way, push yourself until the end and don’t let anybody stop you from shining. As Andrew would say, “your flame may get dim but it will never go out.” Green City Force has inspired me to become a professional cook. My plan after Green City Force will be to become a pastry chef. I will apply for a culinary school before my term ends and hope to be very successful in my career path. In conclusion, I would like to thank the entire GCF family for believing in me and giving me faith throughout this whole journey. Without GCF, I don’t know where my life would be at this point, and I’m very thankful for that. Thank You.
