As a Brooklyn born and based non-profit, Green City Force is honored to be a part of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Vital Brooklyn initiative, announced March 9th, that promises to invest $1.4 billion to transform Central Brooklyn.

As a workforce and economic development partner in Vital Brooklyn we appreciate the Governor’s commitment to “Expand Green City Force AmeriCorps program, providing NYCHA youth with higher-paying opportunities,” as part of a comprehensive initiative that aims to improve quality of life for Central Brooklyn residents.

“Today’s announcement by Governor Cuomo to enhance support for Green City Force’s youth workforce development programming in Brooklyn will provide our service corps members – all of whom are NYCHA residents –  with more opportunities to secure better jobs in the growing green economy. We appreciate the Governor’s focus on workforce development as part of his comprehensive plan.” – Lisbeth Shepherd, Executive Director
