The following remarks were written by graduate Jonathan Bryant and delivered by Sha-me Knight for the Love Where You Live Cohort 15 Graduation on May 4th, 2018 at Brooklyn Borough Hall. Knight reflects on the Green City Force pillar of Justice.

Cohort 15 graduate Sha-me Knight speaks on the GCF pillar of Justice.

Justice. Justice is something we don’t see much now these days. There are a lot of terrible things going on in the world that we wish can be changed. Well, we don’t have to wish. We are the change. All of us alumni are soldiers fighting for that change, even if it means us getting up every morning, going to work everyday and just completing our service. It’s justice for us and those who see. We are that outlet for people who need to be connected back to the right path because not everyone is presented with the opportunities others have. Life puts us back a couple of steps but when we catch up, it’s our duty to help those falling behind. While we are out there knocking on them doors, or flyering the buildings we also are showing the youth that there are better things in life and change doesn’t happen out of nowhere it happens with that first. Justice to me is being that light in the darkness.
