Cohort 11

Tamara Parker

I had my doubts about this program because I had never heard of it and did not know anybody that did this program. But I gave it a shot anyway, and come to find out, one of my family members was here, and a girl I went to high school with, and a boy that lives in my building. Green City Force showed me even if you do not love where you live, you like it, and can grow to love it by starting to preserve it: recycling, cleaning, composting. Anything that I learn from Green City Force I teach my friends and family, especially my daughter, because I did not know these things growing up and I feel if I did, I would have went about living and doing life differently. Now she will know what is going on around her and why, and have the urge to help and make a difference. When I finish this program I would love to learn solar panels and get in the field. If that does not work, I would like to go to the Association for Energy Affordability and get more experience and certification to further myself in life. I plan to open doors to new opportunity for my family and friends because whatever I do now is beneficial in nothing but positive ways. I would like to thank my Team Leader Shaneé, because I know I will not ever get another supervisor that I can relate to and understand like her. She goes out of her way to help, laughs with us, teaches us so we do not go through life thinking negative or speaking negative. She also does not only tell how to do the job, she gets dirty too. I am very appreciative of her.
